I am a late bloomer when it comes to writing and being published. Out of high school I completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Studies. After graduation I went to Korea, like oh so many people do when they need to pay off debts and when they want to postpone the ultimate decision, "What do I want to be when I grow up?" Korea met those needs but surpassed them. It involved being exposed to and then immersed into an amazing culture of food, outdoor beauty, martial arts, temple visits, mountain hikes and music.

I then completed a Bachelor of Education and taught for a couple years. Although there were many aspects I enjoyed about the profession, I realized, maybe from day one, that my brain wasn't wired to be a long term successful teacher, and perhaps even a role model, hee hee.

One day I asked myself - What is my true passion? I remembered two things from childhood. 1. My favorite toy as a kid was a tape recorder which I used constantly to interview people or record mock radio shows. 2. In grade 8 I wrote this short story that I had to read to the class. My time ran out, but the teacher asked the class - Should we let her finish? The whole class yelled an enthusiastic Yes!

Hence, I embark on this new journey of gaining valuable experience writing for Suite 101, networking with talented writers, and receiving excellent advice from the Suite's editors.

By October I will have published two articles. One in Our Children magazine and the other as part of Lakehead University's online publication - Agora Online.
